To celebrate the 28th Annual Texas Blueberry Festival in Nacogdoches, (June 10th), just for fun, we've decided to look into some of the more... shall we say?... non-traditional uses for blueberries in food.

Blueberries are going to be in abundance in the next few days. Every time I go to the Blueberry Festival I end up taking home a pallet of them. A quick search and we found some very interesting ways that people are using blueberries.

Every lover of blueberries probably knows it's most common uses.   Most of us enjoy blueberries as toppings for ice-cream, yogurt, pancakes, waffles, and my personal favorite, cheesecake, or cooked into bagels, muffins, and pies.  On the flip-side, here's a list of other foods complimented by blueberries that you may not have tried.  Yet.

  1.   Blueberry Barbecued Chicken
  2.   Blueberry Sour Cream Tart
  3.   Frozen Honey, Blueberry, Coconut Milk
  4.   Blueberry Bruschetta
  5.   Blueberry Salsa
  6.   Blueberry Mojito with Jalepenos
  7.   Blueberry Flaugnarde (yes, I had to Google flaugnarde)
  8.   Pomegranate White Tea Panna Cotta with Blueberry Gelée (what?)
  9.   Oysters and Blueberry Tart
  10.   Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Most of these selections sound strange, but if prepared by someone who knows what they're doing, would I try any of them?   You bet I would!
