Alice Cooper Honors Director Guillermo Del Toro at Universal Studios’ Eyegore Awards

Shock rocker Alice Cooper had a chance to honor director Guillermo Del Toro at the Eyegore Awards and then followed the ceremony by testing out his new themed-maze at the Universal Studios theme park in Hollywood earlier this week.

Fox News reports the singer presented the career contribution to the horror genre honor to Del Toro, who produced the horror flick 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' earlier this year and has also directed such films as 'Mimic,' 'Hellboy,' 'Pan's Labyrinth,' and 'Blade II.' Del Toro is currently working on another horror film called 'Mama,' while his vampire series, 'The Strain,' just got picked up by Fox.

Cooper singled out the Oscar-nominated film 'Pan's Labyrinth,' telling Del Toro he thought it was "fantastic." "It's really flattering," said Del Toro of having Cooper present him the honor and compliment his work. The Eyegore awards are held annually as the precursor to the unveiling of Universal Hollywood's big 'Hollywood Horror Nights' park premiere.

Blabbermouth reports that after the ceremony, Cooper was among the first to make his way to the maze that carries his name. The 'Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D' comes from the mind of John Murdy, who also designed an Alice-themed maze for the park last year.

Upon testing out the maze, Cooper admitted he was caught off guard a few times. "Looks like my road crew," joked Cooper about some of the creepy features inside. The maze apparently met with the singer's approval, as he reportedly took three trips through, each time stopping to mingle with park visitors and taking the opportunity to scare a few children as well.
