There’s time enough in the week for Jackie Earle Haley to nab a third villain role, following the recent Dark Tower casting, but we’ll settle for The Tick. The former Watchmen hero will again suit up for a super-world, this time opposed to the big blue bug of Amazon’s The Tick reboot.

Per Deadline, the also-Preacher star Haley will take another villainous role as comic evil “The Terror,” described as “our world’s epitome of the criminal mastermind, a hooded ancient villain barking at his minions whose incredible will power and tenacity have powered an underworld syndicate for decades.” In addition to his origin in comics, The Terror was also portrayed by Star Trek alum Armin Shimerman in the short-lived 2001 live-action FOX series.

The long-gestating superhero reboot with a pilot order at Amazon will feature Guardians of the Galaxy star Peter Serafinowicz as the title hero, recovering from a memory loss and re-teaming with his sidekick Arthur (Vinyl star Griffin Newman). The series also stars Valorie Curry as Arthur’s sister Dot, while original FOX star Patrick Warburton is confirmed to executive produce.

Original writer-creator Ben Edlund and fellow original executive producer Barry Josephson will helm the new project, said to be “darker and more grounded,” with Transcendence helmer Wally Pfister in negotiations to direct the pilot, having worked as director of photography for The Dark Knight films.

There’s no guarantee Amazon picks up The Tick to series, but how does the new iteration look to be shaping up thus far?
