Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

An East Texas man tied this year's record for the longest consecutive bell-ringing streak in the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign.

Weather Could Be Messy This Weekend

I hope you strung up the Christmas lights on the outside of the house last weekend, because this will not be the weekend to do it!  Unless of course you like getting pelted in the face with rain and a ball of sleet while you're up there on the ladder.

We'll avoid the worst of the wintry weather that's about to hit Texas, but the National Weather Service says we'll have the chance of freezing rain by Saturday night.

When will it end?

Anyone Else Feel Bad For The UPS Guy?

If you’re like me, you've done quite a bit of online shopping in the past week or so. I was actually cyber-shopping out ahead of the game and received one package the day after Thanksgiving. Then I shopped more over the holiday weekend and on Cyber Monday, and there are five more orders on the way.  With guilt!

One person died Monday in an accident on US 59 involving two 18-Wheelers and a school bus.

The road was still closed Tuesday morning because of the cleanup and investigation, and detours were set up.

Troopers Are Watching Texas Roads Today

Today is one of the biggest travel days of the year, and state police are out in force making sure everyone is buckled up and not drinking and driving.

Be forewarned!  Drive safely, don't let the other crazy drivers get to you, and get where you're going safely.  And if you're going to get really festive and have a beverage or two because sometimes that makes dealing with relatives easier, have a designated driver!
