In 1992, my partner Isaac Tigrett and I opened a club in Cambridge, Massachusetts called The House of Blues. We wanted to honor the great working musicians with a venue worthy of their efforts. Plus, we needed a cool place to hang out. Harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite helped open the joint. Later, Charlie ran into his buddy, a radio producer named Ben Manilla, who said he was thinking of starting a syndicated Blues radio show. Manilla passed the secret initiation ritual, and together we conned CBS Radio into letting us have air time. Hey, we even wrote a book! So many great years have gone by, and now we're with Dial-Global Networks. There are House of Blues clubs across North America, and we continue to bring quality American-style music to the airwaves.
