Blood Donors in East Texas Pour In to Help West Victims

There are stories across the state of people heading to blood banks to donate blood after Wednesday night's deadly explosion at the fertilizer plant in West, TX.

And there are more opportunities to donate blood today, and again tomorrow in Lufkin.

The Blood Center of East Texas is open today from 8am to 4pm , and Saturday from 8am to 2pm.

The Blood Center's website says even though the explosion in West does not fall in the area covered by the Blood Center of East Texas, they agreed to send platelets to Austin, which will help explosion victims.  The website also tells how donations are helping Boston victims.

It's been a rough week full of disturbing headlines, but one positive thing we can do right now is donate blood.  You never know how great the positive will turn out to be.
