Maybe running just isn't your thing and you think all runners are crazy. Perhaps.

I read that runners spend about a third of their time complaining about or running through pain, but they keep going.  There's a big 5K, 10K, and half marathon coming up in Lufkin this fall, and I'm just nutty enough to train for it on a broken toe.  Join me!

I taped that pinky to the toe next to it and I've run about 20 miles since I smashed it on the ottoman on Friday and turned it fat and reddish.  The swelling was worse the next day, and black and blue streaks started down the top of my foot.  BUT...it hurt worse when I walked than when I was running, so I kept running.  My lungs and legs and waistline were happy with running, and that little tiny toe seemed outnumbered and out voted by the bigger body parts anyway.  Everything else wanted to run.

The Junior Achievement Race for Success is coming up Saturday, October 24th in Lufkin, and registration is open now.  You can choose from the 5K, 10K, or the Half Marathon.  Those kids have achieved despite challenges, and so can we, right?

The race helps Junior Achievement of Angelina County and it starts at Slack Elementary School.  You can see the race route HERE.  I'll see you on October 24th.   Our pains should be healed up by then!
