Sandy Relief Efforts Bring Out The Scammers

Surely karma will take care of these folks.

There are reports (and maybe you’ve seen the posts) that people on Facebook and other social media sites are claiming to be storm victims when they’re not. Those folks are asking for money right along with legitimate hurricane relief efforts, generating sympathy, and in some cases making a buck.

East Texas Can Help Sandy Victims

The weather in Lufkin and Nacogdoches seems just fine, so it’s hard to imagine exactly how bad it is right now on the East Coast as Hurricane Sandy makes her way into New York and New Jersey. There are blizzard warnings in places like West Virginia, because Sandy is mixing with a winter storm there, and meteorologists say that’s the first time in history a storm like that has been created – hurricane meets winter storm. And we look out the window and see nothing of the sort. Wanna help those who need it?

The American Red Cross says there are blood drives up and down the Eastern Seaboard that are being cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy, and they’re advising those of us in areas that are unaffected by the hurricane to donate if we’re able.

Nacogdoches ‘American Legion Post 86′ Raising Money For Veterans

Don't want to openly 'dis on how our veterans are treated after active duty, but this may get your blood stirring.

Remember those three branches of government you learned about in elementary school?  What were they now?  Oh yeah, the "Executive", "Legislative", and "Judicial".

Well, the political faction gets a mountain of benefits after their term has concluded, while many members of our armed forces past and present, struggle to cope with physical and mental illness, in addition to making a decent salary.

Then they have to listen to yet another spineless blow-hard on CNBC talk about the need to close another veteran's hospital, all while explaining the urgency to study the mating habits of the nine tentacle octopus on Flag Day.

Houston Texans QB Donates Generous Amount to Texas Childrens’ Hospital

I'm fed up with sports athletes who have public intoxication problems, domestic violence raps, criminal mischief reports, and are in my opinion, impressionable dunder-heads, who should have no more a second chance than any one of us in the real world.

The latest NFL mug shot is that of Seattle Seahawk's running back Marshawn Lynch.  Dallas Cowboy's wide receiver Dez Bryant preceeded his arrest by a couple hours.  Then there's Denver Bronco's defensive end Elvis Dumervil, and former Dallas Maverick, Jason Kidd; completing the superfecta of arrests within a 72 HOUR PERIOD!

Let me pause now to memorialize the disclaimer that appears at the beginning of each "COPS" episode, and that is, "all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty".
