Golfers Get Ready to “Tee it up for Teachers”

Golf goes something like this: slice, bad shot, terrible shot, decent chip, missed putt but a little closer to the hole, and then finally that dang ball finds its way and sinks into the hole. It doesn't usually happen exactly like that for Tiger Woods, but for many east Texas weekend golfers (myself included) we hack our way down the fairway and after the ball has had enough, it finally goes in.

We keep playing not because we're awesome, but because it's fun, and because every once in awhile we hit that one great shot. How did we do that again?

Regardless of our golf ability, we're all invited to play on June 11 at Crown Colony Country Club. It's for a great cause.

Farmer’s Market Open For Business In Nacogdoches

I'm always looking for local honey, since I've heard it's good at helping with local allergies. Getting too scientific about it might make my head explode, but I've heard ingesting what the bees produce is supposed to help fight off seasonal allergies. I'm giving the kids a teaspoon a day and they don't have many sniffles.

With the Farmer's Market is open in Nac, you can not only get local honey, but just about anything else homegrown too.

Cinco De Mayo – Texas Style

Spanish for the 5th of May, Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, commemorating freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War (1861-1865).  Regionally in Mexico, most notably the state of Puebla, the date marks the Mexican army victory over French forces on May 5, 1862, known to historians as "The Battle of Puebla".  That's it for the history lesson folks.

Dating Gets High Tech

How did your prom date ask you to the big dance? I remember my classmate Shane sort of nonchalantly turning around at the end of history class and saying, “So ya wanna go to the prom with me?” I said sure, he said “K,” and turned around again, picked up his books and left the room. We had a lovely time.

Some asks are more memorable than others.

How are most students asked to the prom now? You might guess technology plays a part.
