Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Gets Awarded for His Ribs
It’s not uncommon for musicians to be rewarded for their work, but Iron Maiden‘s Nicko McBrain is taking some pride in being recognized for something not music related.

Don't want anyone laughing too loudly at me, but when it comes to selecting fruits and vegetable at the grocery store ( "supermarket" to others), I have the propensity to agitate other shoppers because of my diligence in selecting just the right peach, or cucumber. Will spend a grand total of five minutes buying hot sauce, dog food, sunflower seeds, a box of detergent, and bug spray. Then spend the next half hour or so, foraging through the tomato bin to insure the firm ones with no dents make it safely into my shopping cart.
Sometimes I like to share a personal moment with you that dares not be repeated in any organized gathering for fear my "tough as nails" reputation will be vanquished.
Among my many duties here at Q107, is to insure the coffee pot stays filled, the station vehicles have gas, and in the event the air-talent are too busy being celebrities, I'm called upon to be the runner! Now, I am not referring to the runner, as in the movie Logan's Run (incidentally, the movie was shot in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in 1975).
Well, the 23rd Annual Texas Blueberry Festival is almost here (June 9), and as you make your way through the spectacular maze of festivities in downtown Nacogdoches, don't forget to say hello to the sheriff manning patrol on the grounds from sunrise to sunset.
As I sit here at work snacking on chex mix, I present this question to ponder: What are the jobs most at risk for weight gain?
Planning a BBQ is one of the most stimulating events of our life. No, I didn't read about this in Home & Garden, nor did I get my info from a Food Network episode. Just one man's impression - mine!
Now, while nothing gets my heart pumping more than a week-end cookout, there is one dreaded weasel that invariably wreaks havoc on any carefully planned good time. Well, not really a weasel; more like the bothersome...
Friday June 1st (TODAY!) is National Doughnut Day. If you live in a place that has them, Krispy Kreme locations across the nation will be celebrating by offering a free…doughnut of any variety, no purchase necessary.
I have to say I’m not very good at math, and I have no interest in trying to figure out what a twenty percent tip is on a $46.56 bill. I always make my spouse do the arithmetic. And you?
Whether we’re dining at Logan's Roadhouse, the Outback Steakhouse, or Cotton Patch, we usually try to be generous with our tips. We know you guys and gals work hard for the money. And besides, we feel like we need to apologize for the discarded french fries and crayons and kids menus on the floor, tossed by our three kids. A good tip is a great way to say, “I’m sorry you had to put up with this uncontrollable family.”
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is a billionaire and can afford big tips. Is he generous?
Just in time for Father's Day (June 17), Q107, Lufkin Dr. Pepper and Dr. Pepper 10, wants to reward one lucky dad a $1,500 Grill and accessory package for Father's Day!
I can see "Daddy-O" now wearing his Cubavera Grilling Shirt and Guy Fieri Gatorz Sunglasses, while relaxing under his Dr Pepper Pop Up Tent, knockin' down a cold Dr Pepper 10 -- waiting for the steaks to sizzle on his Grill King Deluxe Heavy-Duty Charcoal Grill & Smoker.
As Memorial Day opens the gate to summer, we all begin to plan our outdoor activities. Most of us will find a reason to get outside for the long weekend and enjoy food, friends, family and some delicious beverages. And really, it wouldn’t be a summer holiday without some grilling.
You know that free calendar you get each year from your financial institution? I always have it promptly displayed in my home, so all holidays are given their just reward. For example, Monday, May 21, was 'Waiters and Waitresses' Day, which meant it was time to be a little more generous than normal, upon disposing of your restaurant meal.
I'm always looking for local honey, since I've heard it's good at helping with local allergies. Getting too scientific about it might make my head explode, but I've heard ingesting what the bees produce is supposed to help fight off seasonal allergies. I'm giving the kids a teaspoon a day and they don't have many sniffles.
With the Farmer's Market is open in Nac, you can not only get local honey, but just about anything else homegrown too.
