It's been a great year of movies at the historic Pines theater in downtown Lufkin. Our $5 Film series has brought timeless classics back to the big screen each month to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, but to also give you a fun movie experience on a budget.

With only five movies left in our $5 Film series, It's obvious we've saved some of the best for last. We're showing the Award winning Christian drama, "Fireproof".

The answer is — to an extent — Don’t Breathe, a thriller that skews a little more toward The Collector than David Fincher’s underrated Panic Room. The latest effort from director Fede Alvarez (the Evil Dead remake) is a relentlessly intense cat-and-mouse game with a couple of hard lefts thrown into its twisted domestic labyrinth. It’s a nasty little piece of work that needs to be a bit more lean and slightly less mean.

As the final Captain America: Civil War trailer arrives, everyone has been patiently awaiting one thing: Spider-Man. Everything else we’ve seen and heard about the film has been great, but so far Marvel has kept the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland) completely in the dark. If you're with me on the love for Tina Fey, you probably skipped the Zootopia line over the weekend and saw Whiskey Tango Foxtrot instead. If anyone can make a war zone funny it's Tina Fey.  But do we want to? Here's the thing.

Everyone watching the Super Bowl last night may spend a lot of time getting excited about upcoming movies based on the trailers that ran during the big game. Their designed to wow and impress in just 30 seconds, getting people ready for appointment viewing in the theater. But for every big success, there are a lot of let downs. Not every trailer you saw last night is going to result in a great movie (we’re looking at you Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows). We know this because we looked back at the history of Super Bowl movie trailers and noticed that some very generous studios were willing to spend a lot of money on some really crappy movies.
