We've got plenty of courageous athletes right here in East Texas. We especially love watching Lufkin and Nac athletes strive for the best each Friday night during the fall. We love high school football! Some of those athletes look up to the pros, and those pros will be honored this summer.
On March 27, 1986, the city of Shreveport, Louisiana bore witness to the very first public performance of Van Halen MKII – otherwise nicknamed “Van Hagar,” in reference to the band’s new front man, Sammy Hagar, who had controversially replaced former loudmouth, David Lee Roth, a few months prior.
How many times have you walked around Lufkin Mall and popped in and out of Foot Locker or JC Penney without buying anything? There's no harm in that, right?
There's one store in Australia that has posted notice to its customers right there on the front window, that there will be a $5 charge for coming in, browsing, and leaving without buying anything. What?! Can they get away with this?
You may remember a couple of months ago Angelina County Commissioners gave the Sheriff's office the green light to apply for a grant with the state of Texas to help crack down on underage drinking. Deputies also got a $10,000 grant to buy portable breathalyzer machines.
The sheriff's office is serious about enforcing drinking laws, and right now they're especially focused on breaking up underage drinking parties.
The Texas Regional Rainbow Gathering is underway in East Texas. Campers have set up tents similar to these, and the event will run for about two weeks.
The Rainbow Family says on its website it's sometimes referred to as the largest non-organization of non-members in the world. They have no leaders, and no organization. And they say, "To be honest, the Rainbow Family means different things to different people. I think it's safe to say we're into intentional community building, non-violence, and alternative lifestyles. We also believe that Peace and Love are a great thing, and there isn't enough of that in this world. Many of our traditions are based on Native American traditions, and we have a strong orientation to take care of the the Earth. We gather in the National Forests yearly to pray for peace on this planet."
Since its release in 1973, Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' has become one of the best-selling records of all time. The album is certified for sales of more than 15 million in the United States alone, and stayed on Billboard's Top 200 for 741 weeks. It celebrates its 40th anniversary this month.
Much of the first part of this week will not be spent concentrating hard on deadlines and meetings at the office. Instead, big chunks of time will be spent online, filling out brackets for the NCAA tournament.
It's not just a guy thing....many women are on board with the bracketology at the office, and some bosses even say it's cool with them! One in five bosses say March Madness boosts office morale, and seventy-five percent of bosses in a recent survey say the NCAA tournament doesn't impact productivity. Cool! We've pulled the wool over their eyes.
Perhaps you've never met most of your Facebook friends. We have a feeling you're not alone. One guy is setting out to change that.
And we must say, even though we may not have personally met each and every one of you, we love and adore you just the same!
There's a guy in Connecticut who has set out on a quest to meet each of his 788 Facebook friends, and take a picture with them doing their favorite activity. Whether it's horseback riding, playing basketball, or drinking beer, this guy will have a picture of each person doing that favorite thing on his Facebook page.
