East Texas is full of opportunities to hike and paddle and make the most of spring, and there's a new website that just launched that will help plan the ultimate outdoorsy weekend.

If you're going to die from an animal encounter in Texas, it will most likely be with this one. It's responsible for more deaths here than any other animal.

With spring break in East Texas and big events like South By Southwest in Austin happening this week, there are thousands of people on the road.  And not all of them are sober.

Texans are so good at making the most of the outdoors.  In the spring. When it's not a hundred degrees at noon. State parks can be great places to ride bikes if you know where to go, and we've got a hidden gem right here in East Texas.

It feels good to have a vehicle that you love, but spending a big chunk of your income on a nice ride creates big personal debt problems. And in Lufkin, we rank among the worst in Texas for overspending.  If you're thinking of buying a new vehicle, you gotta read this!

The most crowded spots are not always the best places to take the family for some rest and relaxation.  Sometimes the best times are at the hidden gems that are off the beaten path, like these secret spots at Texas state parks.  Did we miss any?

At first glance it might look like a 10 foot by 9 foot patch of grass.  But the history behind it makes this obscure Texas landmark significant, and if you want to take a pic at that spot, it's not too far from Lufkin.

Thursday morning, during our weekly conversation with Rhonda Oaks from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), we learned that a portion of the Loop in Lufkin will be closed beginning next Tuesday, January 24th.

At least two plane crashes made headlines in Texas this week, and one pilot miraculously walked away.  The others weren't so lucky.

Overall, people are leaving the East Coast, and flocking to the West. What does that mean for Texas?

Late this morning (1/4/17), TxDOT officials reported that a tractor-trailer rig had its oversized load shift while in transit on Highway 59 North between Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

TxDOT officials have decided to remove three recently placed stop signs at Loop 224 at NW Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches which will restore the intersection to its previous traffic pattern.
