It's been a classic war of words in the press between Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Stone Sour / Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. Kroeger, hitting on comments made 15 years ago by Taylor, dissed Taylor and his bands, ultimately reducing Stone Sour to "Nickelback lite" and Slipknot to a "gimmick." Taylor fired back and it appears 'The Great Big Mouth' isn't done quite yet.

Naturally, Taylor has been fielding questions about Kroeger's comments in recent interviews, like when he spoke with KISW at the Pain in the Grass festival over the weekend (June 24, video below). There was a playful energy in the room and the frontman was initially apprehensive about discussing the issue once more, stating, "I'm not talking about that dickhead. Why do I give a s--t what Chad Kroeger says?" The comment was met with a round of applause and cheers from the crowd.

The interviewer followed up, "Chad Kroeger poking at you is like asking a criminal, 'Why are you robbing me?' Like he's going to turn around and be nice to you." Taylor took it from there, adding, "I'll tell you what. This is how I figured it out. Chad Kroeger is to rock what KFC is to chicken. Is that wrong? I feel like I'm not wrong." Responding to a joke that the backstage area was sponsored by KFC, the singer continued, "I'll still eat it, but I'm not going to feel good about it."

Since Kroeger's first comments, Taylor has gone on to note the Nickelback frontman has a "face like a foot," among other things. Meanwhile, Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand called the "Nickelback lite" comment "the ultimate insult." The exchange has dominated rock headlines, even catching the attention of wrestling legend the Iron Sheik as well as pop rock outfit Smash Mouth, who stood by Taylor's side on Twitter. The Iron Sheik said, "Nickelback you f--king jabroni never ever ever f--k with the Slipknot or I break your f--king 5 cent neck" while Smash Mouth called Slipknot "American icons."
