Get your shots and brush up your best swears – Deadwood might finally be back in business. A new report seems to confirm the long-awaited movie revival with a production update that puts Al Swearengen before cameras late next year.

When last we heard in July, HBO brass suggested that Deadwood’s return was dependent on a director and scheduling, more-so than on reconvening its famous cast. Now, TVLine reports that HBO is looking at a fall 2018 production start, though no other details have officially been confirmed. As with a reported start to Big Little Lies Season 2, the network wouldn’t comment on production plans.

Assuming the claim proves accurate, that would mean the cast of Dayton Callie, Kim Dickens, W. Earl Brown, Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, John Hawkes, Robin Weigert, Anna Gunn, Paula Malcolmson, Molly Parker, and more managed to clear their schedules (RIP Ralph Richeson and Powers Boothe). For those who missed out on one of HBO’s earlier hits, Deadwood ran from 2004 to 2006, showcasing the rise of Deadwood, South Dakota from frontier gold prospecting camp to fully-annexed territory.

It remains to be seen when HBO might step up to confirm a Deadwood movie, but what should we hope for from the long-awaited return?
