Deftones’ Chino Moreno Reverses Stance Against Touring With Korn; Korn Play Acoustic Set at Carolina Rebellion
Last week, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno made waves when he declared that he did not want to tour with Korn, confirming the suspicions of Brian ‘Head’ Welch. Moreno insisted both sides are friends, but that he did not want to be categorized as nu-metal during the height of the nu-metal explosion. Now, however, he has reversed this stance as a guest on BBC 1’s Rock Show With Daniel P. Carter.
When asked which band he would like to tour with, Moreno shocked listeners when he stated, “I’m going to go ahead and say Korn — contrary to all the hate mail I woke up to yesterday.” Clearing the air, the singer elaborated that he was speaking about a period in time (1998’s Around the Fur) when he decided not to tour with Korn or similar bands.
“[We] sort of made a conscious decision to try to break away from what we were trying to be shut into — not that we felt better than Korn and Limp Bizkit or any of the other bands,” Moreno continued, adding, “But we just wanted our own identity. One way of helping that was to do shows on our own and away from what we were being lumped into, so that’s all. It’s just funny how blown out of proportion people get.”
Returning to the focal topic, he reiterated, “I would do shows with them, I would definitely do shows with them.”
In other news, Korn made their appearance at the Carolina Rebellion festival over the weekend and even treated a small group of fans to a rare and special acoustic set. As part of the “Zippo Sessions,” Korn performed stripped down version of “Clown” off their self-titled debut, which can be viewed below courtesy os Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin.

Fans hoping to see Korn on their upcoming brief headlining run will have to wait as the band was forced to postpone the tour due to “unforeseen circumstances.” A list of the affected dates can be seen here.
