It isn’t outside the realm of possibility for Disney to keep a hidden vault of Scrooge McDuck-like proportions, open for (very painful) swimming at a moment’s notice. If not, the new DuckTales reboot might at least make enough for one, judging by Disney’s plan to merchandise the new series.

The rebooted series was first announced in early 2015 for a 2017 debut, and according to TMZ, has now filed significant trademark paperwork for all manner of tie-in merchandise. By the time the series debuts next year, we might see “themed kids’ juices, soft drinks, toys, games, books and all other playthings,” or as the report puts it, “expect to see the modern versions of Huey, Dewey and Louie on a crapload of merchandise very soon.”

The original Emmy-winning DuckTales ran from 1987-1990 as part of The Disney Afternoon daily cartoon block, which went on to spawn Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Talespin and 1990 theatrical movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Disney Television Animation will produce the new version, which features a fan-favorite cast of Scrooge McDuck, grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie and Donald Duck, along with Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell and Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack.

Disney has yet to set a formal date for its new DuckTales, but expect additional details soon.
