One of Elvis Costello's greatest albums is going to be featured heavily in a two-week stretch of dates this fall. Today (July 19), he announced the "Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers" tour, so named after his 1982 release, Imperial Bedroom. You can see the dates below.

However, he stopped short of saying that, unlike many artists of a certain vintage are doing these days, he will play the record in its entirety and sequence. In a press release accompanying this news, he said, "You must have known by now that we wouldn't play this kind of show by anyone else's rules. You'll hear all the songs that fit the bill; hits and headlines, waifs and strays. In the words of the great [English comedian] Eric Morecambe, ‘I am playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.’"

Instead, he noted that selections from Imperial Bedroom will be framed by "the songs that led in and out of that velvet-trimmed playhouse.”

Costello, with his band the Imposters, will embark on the tour on Oct. 22 in Atlantic City, N.J. This is only a few days after he concludes a solo tour of the Midwest and South. He will wind it all up at the Beacon Theater in New York on Nov. 6. Check the Dance Card section of Costello's website for complete information.

Imperial Bedroom is one of Costello's most beloved records. Although it didn't place a single on the Billboard Hot 100, it reached No. 30 on the album chart and was widely praised for its lush, complex arrangements, which included a full orchestra on "...And in Every Home," with Steve Nieve's keyboards throughout being a highlight.
