We've lost another "classic" biggee!  Real name "Ermes Efron Borgnino"

Often known for tough guy roles, it was a movie called "Marty" in 1955, a film about a man who fears his looks will never invite romance, that made Ernest Borgnine an instant Oscar winning star.  His career spanned seven decades in the movie 'biz' with stops in "From Here To Eternity", "Johnny Guitar", "Three Bad Men", "The Dirty Dozen", and "Poseidon Adventure", just to name a few.

Most classic rockers may never forget Borgnine as the coniving Captain Quinton McHale in the 1962-1966 television comedy series "McHale's Navy", where he ranked over a cast of misfits.  In real life, he joined the navy in 1935, serving during World War II.

During a 2007 interview, Borgnine was just still bantering for acting jobs, but most studio execs kept asking "is he still alive?"

Ernest Borgnine was 95 years old upon his passing on July 8.  RIP "Skip"!
