“Fast Five” Sets Record
The fifth movie in the “Fast and Furious” franchise broke it’s own record! 
Vin Diesel and “Fast Five” took in over $83 million over the weekend — a new record for an April debut. The previous record? $71 million, and that was how much “Fast and Furious 4″ took in two years ago. This is the best overall debut since the last Harry Potter movie.
Some critics have credited a stellar cast, saying adding The Rock put it over the top. The Rock, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster…definitely not boring.
The number two movie, “Rio,” had an opening weekend of $14.4 million.
“Fast Five” smoked the competition. But then, with all that speed, should we really expect any different?
