Hank Williams Jr. Intro Yanked from MNF

Notice anything different about Monday Night Football last night?

Peyton Manning wasn’t the only one who was missing.

Why was Hank Williams Jr.’s intro yanked from the opening?

Here’s the story.

Hank’s Monday morning appearance on Fox News  led to ESPN’s decision to pull the opening.  During the interview, Williams said he didn’t like any of the current Republicans vying for the Presidential nomination. He then went on to say that Speaker of the House John Boehner recently playing golf with President Obama recently was like Hitler playing golf with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

When the interviewers asked him to clarify that statement, Williams said that Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were the enemy, and admitted he did throw his support behind Herman Cain as far as possible Republican nominees.

As a result of that appearance, ESPN released a statement stressing that Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee.  ESPN also said, “We recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”

Will Hank’s intro be back on the telecast next week?  No official word yet.

Hank has responded to the ESPN decision.  Click HERE to read the latest.
