Technology makes life better, right?

Hang on, I'll answer that in a minute.  But first, let me take a selfie.

I ran across an article posted by Eonline! this week called, "9 Reasons Technology Has Ruined Relationships, Friendships, and Your Life."  Kinda funny and a little true!

Do you text while you're in the bathroom sometimes?  It's just harmless multi-tasking, right?  That's what we'll call it.  But that stuff didn't happen ten years ago and it may be ruining some otherwise peaceful moments in there.

I like this one:  "You can't enjoy a nice dinner out until someone takes a photo of their meal."  Yes, Facebook can make us hungry.  But I kinda like it when friends show me what they're eating because it helps me decide if I want to go there or not.  Usually not.

A couple of weeks ago I was out with a friend and tagged her on a Facebook post, and the next day she asked if I could remove the tag because she had ditched her kickball team to hang out with me.  They had a game and they lost, and she was having a drink with me instead.  Whoops!  Sometimes social media can throw us under the bus with other commitments, and that's another thing on the E! list.

And this one:  "The majority of interactions are through text, so now calling someone is weird."  I don't know if calling is weird, as much as it is just a pain in the butt.  A long-winded person on the phone can suck thirty minutes right out of your day, but if they have to text those thoughts they'll get tired of typing and condense them for ya.  Actual voices are a challenge sometimes.  BUT, it's kind of awesome when guys I meet on Tinder text a few times and then call me to chat. That's courting, and that process needs to survive technology somehow doesn't it it? I'm always impressed when guys ask if they can call.

I love technology and my smart phone, and I can't imagine life without it now.  And I don't think this technology is going anywhere, so head to the bathroom and have at it.  I'll be waiting for your text.
