Here’s some fun news before you head off for your weekend (probably to stay inside and watch something on streaming because it is hot as hell today): Iko Uwais, the hugely talented Indonesian actor who starred in The Raid and The Raid 2 is taking his talents to Netflix, for a 10-episode series titled Wu Assassins.

Stephen Fung previously directed Tai Chi 0 and Tai Chi Hero, and The Adventurers. Deadline had this plot synopsis:

Wu Assassins, set in San Francisco’s Chinatown, is a martial arts crime series with supernatural elements. It stars Uwais as Kai Jin, who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again. Mann plays Uncle Six.

To all of this I say: I will watch this show. Or, at the very least, put it on the top of my MyList along with the 35 other excellent looking Netflix series they’ve released this year that I haven’t had time to watch. But look I have two kids. They keep me very busy and Netflix puts out about three new complete seasons of television every day. Speaking of which, there’s brand new episodes of GLOW and new episodes of Nailed It on Netflix this weekend. So you have plenty to watch while they’re producing Wu Assassins.
