There are certain cities that have a really close music community and you can count the Bay Area's San Francisco and Oakland scenes as one of those tight communities. We've seen a bit of that over the last few years with the annual Acoustic-4-a-Cure benefit, usually led by Metallica frontman James Hetfield and the legendary "Red Rocker" Sammy Hagar. Both musicians have returned for the third year of the benefit, along with some other name rockers

Joining this year's lineup will be Tommy Lee, Joe Satriani, John Mayer, Melissa Etheridge and Train's Pat Monahan. As with past years, the show will feature once-in-a-lifetime musical moments and collaborations and it's all happening for a good cause. The Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital will receive funding from ticket sales. The show takes place at San Francisco's Fillmore on Sunday, May 15.

Tickets are set to go on sale this Friday (April 1) at 10AM PT via Live Nation and a limited number of VIP ticket packages will also be made available. For full information, check out the Acoustic-4-a-Cure benefit website.

As stated, Hetfield and Hagar founded the benefit, pulling in name performers like Billie Joe Armstrong, Jerry Cantrell, Chad Smith, Linda Perry, Nancy Wilson and Adam Sandler in recent years.
