Jimmy Page has expressed frustration that Led Zeppelin haven't mounted a reunion tour, but he sounds like he's getting closer to starting his own group again. In fact, it could happen as soon as next year.

"If I was to play again, it would be with musicians that would be -- some of the names might be new to you," Page told NME. "I haven't put them together yet, but I'm going to do that next year."

As for what this new band might play, Page said he wouldn't simply focus on Zeppelin's catalog -- something he's been deeply immersed in for months while overseeing a series of expansive reissues.

"If I went out to play, I would play material that spanned everything from my recording career right back to my very, very early days with the Yardbirds," Page added. "There would certainly be some new material in there, as well."

Page hasn't released a solo album since 1988's 'Outrider,' though he's participated in collaborative projects with David Coverdale (1993's 'Coverdale and Page') and his former Led Zeppelin bandmate Robert Plant (1998's 'Walking Into Clarksdale'). Page confirmed earlier this year that he's been working on new music.
