We’ve been looking forward to ‘Wrote a Song for Everyone,’ the upcoming album from former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little bit longer, because the record has been postponed from its original Oct. 9 release date until an unspecified day in early 2013.

A message on Fogerty’s website earlier this week announced the news:

There is an amazing group of artists who have joined Fogerty in making this record – bringing their distinctive style to his songs. There are additional touches being added to the recording, including some new original songs and notable surprises. Check back here for further updates!

‘Wrote a Song for Everyone’ was originally scheduled to be comprised of new recordings of many of his best-known songs with a star-studded array of musicians, including Bob Seger, Foo Fighters, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and country star Miranda Lambert.

Although we’re sad to learn that Fogerty’s record has been delayed, we’re glad to see that he’s become inspired to come up with some new songs for the project. As for the “notable surprises,” we noticed that Bruce Springsteen was not mentioned among Fogerty’s singing partners previously. Perhaps he’s waiting for the Boss to conclude his current tour so that he can contribute. The two shared a stage during Springsteen’s concert in London last month, and they covered the Everly Brothers’ ‘When Will I Be Loved’ on Fogerty’s 2009 album, ‘The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again.’
