Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher once couldn't tell if Paul McCartney was offering him a drink or a pizza. In a new interview, he recalled a meeting with McCartney, where the ex-Beatle's attempt to be genial resulted in some coarse language from McCartney.

“I’ve met him a few times he’s been absolutely a dream,” Gallagher said in an interview with NME. But recently, he continued, things took a weird turn. “The last time was at the Royal Albert Hall. He goes, ‘Why are you always in a rush? Sit down, sit down.’ I sit down and he goes, ‘Do you like margaritas?’ I said, ‘Yeah, but I had something before I come out, I don’t eat at this time of night.'"

Gallagher may have been confusing a margarita, the beverage containing tequila, triple sec and lime, with a typical Neopolitan pizza, known as a margherita. Whether Gallagher is paraphrasing, we couldn't say, but according to his story, McCartney responded as any of us would. "He said, ‘They’re f---in’ drinks, you stupid prick.’ I thought he was offering me a pizza.”

In the past, Gallagher has favorably compared Oasis' rise to fame to that of the Beatles. "What we did in three took the Beatles eight. Good, y’know, f—in’ rightly so. I thought we were the bollocks and I thought we’d be doing that all over the world,” said Gallagher. “I thought America would buy it, everyone would buy it…But that, my friend, is cocaine for you.”

Gallagher released his first solo album As You Were last month.
