Ready for a 3-day weekend?  The annual Lufkin fireworks display is coming up Friday at Ellen Trout Park from 3pm until 9:15, and there are a few things you need to know before you head that way.

The City says on its website that the Lufkin ISD will be providing shuttle buses from Lufkin High School 5:00 pm till 8:45 pm. and you can also hop on a shuttle back after the event. The fire works display will be shot at 9:15 pm.

KTRE says the fireworks will be shot off from two separate trailers, and almost 1500 shells will be ignited during the course of the show.  For the finale, they'll fire off almost 900 shells in three minutes.

There will be festivities at the park all day, so feel free to head out in the afternoon and avoid the crowd that just goes in the evening for the fireworks.

In Nacogdoches on the 4th, Texas Farm Bureau Freedom Fest will be happening in Festival Park from 5pm to 9:30pm. That’s just south of the Square. The Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau says they’ll have things for the kids to do, along with food and live music by local bands, and admission is free. The fireworks will start 30 minutes after dark.

Have a safe and happy 4th!
