The Little League Baseball All-Star season has quickly sneaked upon us, being one of the most exciting parts of the game as seen by players, parents, coaches and fans alike.

Having made the all-star team myself - as an alternate (meaning if one of the regulars could not actively participate) - I can still remember the thrills of playing one game at a time in hopes of reaching Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home to the Little League World Series.

Our team manage to win more than a handful of games as we won District, on our way to Regionals.  But, I guess we were nervous about advancing, because we were shellacked by the other guys, 8-0 in the first game.  It sure was a fun ride though.

Tonight at Morris Frank Park, district play continues for the Lufkin team, pitted against a strong contender from Tyler West.  Our very own, "Big Nasty", a.k.a. Gary Ivins, has the play-by-play call beginning just before 7 p.m. right here on The Classic Rock Station, Q107, and streaming on line at Q1077.com.

Enjoy the action, and go-o-o-o-o LUFKIN!
