The Lufkin Police Special Response Team took a man into custody who kidnapped his girlfriend after shooting a man in a local apartment complex parking lot early Thursday morning. 

According to a press release from the Lufkin Police Department, Zane Williams, 39, of Lufkin, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken into custody following a brief standoff around 10 a.m. after detectives tracked him to a trailer home in Trinity County.

The woman was recovered unharmed. His shooting victim, 35-year-old Amos Clary, remained in critical condition at Memorial Hermann in Houston.

The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Thursday when dispatchers began receiving multiple calls of a shooting victim in the parking lot of Hidden Oaks II on Tulane Drive.
Williams and Clary argued in the parking lot just before the shooting, according to witness accounts. Williams then fled in a white, Chevrolet pickup after taking the woman against her will.

The incident remains under investigation.
