If you've been one of the ten thousand fans packed into Abe Martin Stadium on a Friday night, you know the atmosphere is electric.

Livability.com has released their list of the Top 10 High School Football cities in the country, and Lufkin made the list. In fact, Lufkin is the envy of the high-school-football-lovin' nation!

Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, TN; De La Salle High School in Concord, California; West Monroe HS in West Munroe, Louisiana; and our neighbors in Tyler are some of the others that made the list. The site says the Tyler fans are #5 for the school spirit at John Tyler High School.

But Livability.com says Lufkin is the number one high school football city in America, not only for the Lufkin Panthers, but also because of Dunbar High School that won three state titles in the 1960s. Better than any other high school football city in the entire country? There will be arguments. But we'll take it!

The Panthers lost to those John Tyler Lions in the season opener last Friday, but it wasn't for lack of school spirit. Next up, the Panthers have Tyler Lee at home Friday night. We'll be bringin' it! Cuz we're #1.
