Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo recently performed an impromptu cover of the classic Trust song “Antisocial” onstage.

The song became a mainstay of the metal scene after Anthrax recorded a version of it in 1988. You can watch Hammett and Trujillo in the above video, which comes from a performance at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on Sept. 8, as the band currently moves its WorldWired tour across Europe. They’re on the road promoting the release of their 10th album Hardwired … to Self-Destruct from last year.

The French metal band Trust released “Antisocial” on their 1980 album Repression. It’s remained the most well-known song in their catalog ever since. Anthrax covered it on their State of Euphoria album eight years later, and released it as a single alongside their cover of Trust’s “Le Sects” and Kiss’ “Parasite.”

The Anthrax version appears on the soundtrack of the new hit movie It during a scene in which the protagonist stands up to a group of bullies. Stephen King, who wrote the book on which the movie is based, has said that he likes to listen to heavy metal while he’s working, noting that Metallica and Anthrax are among his favorites.

Metallica are now gearing up for the release of a deluxe edition of their 1986 groundbreaking album Master of Puppets, which will arrive on Nov. 10. The band’s European run continues through Nov. 3, with further dates booked from Feb. 1 until May 11 next year.
