Following a spring and summer of teasing it during pre-show tuning room rehearsals, Metallica finally debuted "Spit Out the Bone" last night (Oct. 24) in London at the O2 Arena. The fan favorite is the closing track on the band's latest album, Hardwired...To Self-Destruct, and arguably the heaviest.

"Special for you London," frontman James Hetfield says to the crowd after the song is played, as seen in the clip above, having adopted a faux-British accent. Of the 12 tracks on the new record, nine have now been performed in a live setting.

In other Metallica news, the band will perform at Band Together Bay Area, a benefit concert at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Thursday, Nov. 9 which will be staged with the goal of supporting recovery efforts for the recent spate of devastating fires that swept through the group's adopted region of Northern California.

Tickets range from $49.50 to $199.50, will go on sale this Friday via Ticketmaster. The best seats will be going to first responders, volunteers, and others impacted by the fires. One hundred percent of ticket sales will be directed to the Tipping Point Emergency Relief Fund, supporting community partners working on the front lines to help those hit hardest.

“For 34 years, Metallica has flown the flag for the Bay Area all over the world,” drummer Lars Ulrich says in the announcement video below. “Metallica has been proud to represent all things San Francisco and the Bay Area. The recent tragic events up in Napa County and Sonoma County, Mendocino has left us all saddened, eft us all flabbergasted and trying to figure out how we could in some way bound together and help.”

"Metallica is doing all we can to help the victims, the first responders and all those who have been affected by the North Bay fires," adds Hetfield.
