Earlier today, Morrissey performed nearly half of his upcoming album, Low in High School, while appearing on BBC Radio 6's program 6 Music Live. In addition to its lead single, "Spent the Day in Bed," he played “I Wish You Lonely,” “When You Open Up Your Legs,” “Home Is a Question Mark,” and “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up on the Stage.”

You can listen to it at Radio 6's website, and you can scroll to the moment when Morrissey shows up at the two-hour mark. However, he also courted a bit of local controversy by weighing in on the recent elections to head the UK Independence Party, the group that helped pass Brexit. Morrissey, who supported Great Britain's exit from the European Union, was apparently upset that Anne Marie Waters, who founded the anti-Islamic group Sharia Watch UK, narrowly lost to Henry Bolton.

“It was very interesting for me to see Anne Marie Waters become the head of UKIP,” he said. “Oh no, sorry, she didn’t. The voting was rigged. Sorry, I forgot.” The crowd, perhaps unaware of Morrissey's views, went silent, to which the singer responded, “You don’t get it, do you? You obviously don’t read the news.”

Arriving on Nov. 17, Low in High School is the follow-up to 2014’s World Peace Is None of Your Business. He'll support the release in the U.S. with a tour that begins at the Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland on Halloween and concludes on Dec. 7 at Boston's Orpheum Theater.
