This year will mark the first in which Marvel schedules three Netflix premieres, including Iron Fist in March, The Defenders in August, and Daredevil spinoff The Punisher. Marvel has yet to define the latter’s premiere beyond 2017, but a Punisher director may have given us a fall premiere.

Granted, an August debut for The Defenders left limited 2017 options for Jon Bernthal’s Punisher to strike out in his own series, director Dearbhla Walsh may have narrowed the target. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on a number of projects, Walsh casually suggested that The Punisher would premiere in November:

Was this your first time crossing the pond, as it were, to direct episodic TV?

One other time that hasn’t been aired yet, which was an episode for the new Marvel series The Punisher, which I did just before Christmas, but it’s not airing until November. I directed that in New York and edited in L.A., but this was my first directing experience in lovely Canada.

In addition to Jon Bernthal, Marvel’s Netflix Punisher includes among its cast Daredevil star Deborah Ann Woll reprising her role as Karen Page, Westworld alum Ben Barnes as Frank’s Special Forces friend (and future Jigsaw) Billy Russo, and Girls star Ebon Moss-Bachrach as “Micro,” described as “a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them.” Amber Rose Revah will also play Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, while the support cast is outlined below:

Daniel Webber (“11.22.63”) has been cast as Lewis Walcott, a young veteran who has had a difficult time re-assimilating into Civilian Society.

Jason R. Moore (“A Lonely Place for Dying”) joins as Curtis Hoyle, a friend of Frank Castle’s and one of the few people who knows he is alive.

Paul Schulze (“Nurse Jackie”) will play Rawlins, a high-ranking member of the CIA whose operations in Afghanistan intersect with Frank Castle.

Jaime Ray Newman (“Bates Motel”) plays Sarah Lieberman, Micro’s wife (played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach) whose marriage has made her life far more complicated.

Michael Nathanson (“The Knick,” “Wolf of Wall Street”) has been cast as Sam Stein, a Homeland agent who is challenged by his partnership with Dinah (Amber Rose Revah).

We’ll see if Netflix responds with an official Punisher premiere announcement, so stay tuned for the latest.
