A new Pink Floyd-themed Apple app for the iPad, iPod and iPod Touch went on sale Monday at the iTunes store for $2.99.  This Day in Pink Floyd offers historic information about the band for every calendar day, and also includes trivia questions and background on all the songs the legendary space-rock group released.

In addition, fans purchasing the app can access a free ringtone of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and a couple of free digital wallpaper images, and can watch a restored 1968 video of the tune "Point Me at the Sky."  The app also allows users to buy Pink Floyd music directly from iTunes, and features links to the band's official website and Facebook page, as well as to the official sites of each of the group's members.

This Day in Pink Floyd is the first app for Apple products that the group has officially sanctioned.
