His last marriage didn’t work out so well, but give Paul McCartney credit for perseverance: he’s getting ready to walk down the aisle again — and soon.

The UK’s Daily Telegraph reports that McCartney’s engagement to Nancy Shevell, which took place in May, will lead to a low-key London wedding in the near future, followed by a trip to New York for the newlyweds. As a friend of McCartney’s tells the paper, “Paul loves Nancy very much, but does not want a big wedding.”

Most recently, McCartney was married to Heather Mills, in a six-year union that produced a daughter — and one of the nastiest public splits in recent memory. His marriage to his first wife, Linda, was one of rock’s longest-lasting and most openly-affectionate unions. It ended when Linda succumbed to cancer in 1998.

New marriage plans aren’t the only thing on the horizon for McCartney, who’s also bowing a 9/11 documentary, titled ‘The Love We Make,’ on Showtime in September.
