People From California Are Flocking To Texas

The Texas population is always growing it seems, and people are coming from one state more than any other.

Are you a native Texan, or do you transfer in from another state?  I'm originally from Nebraska and I moved to Texas in 1996.  I have friends who moved here from Arkansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Michigan, and I'm sure you and your friends can add to that list.

The Texas Association of Realtors says 66,318 people moved from California to Texas last year, and that's more than double the number that moved from Florida, which is the next closest state.  More than half a million people moved to Texas from other states last year, and even more moved around inside the Texas borders.  Which probably means if you know a Lufkin native, that's getting more and more rare.  There's a whole lot of moving going on.

We're not just gaining residents, we're losing them too.  More than 32,000 people moved out of Texas to other states last year.  KHOU TV says the state they moved to the most was California, followed by Oklahoma, Florida, Colorado and Louisiana.

Why do you think so many people are moving?  Much of it probably has to do with job transfers, but I'd be willing to bet there are one or two cases of internet love in those stats.  You meet online, you fall in love, and the next thing you know you're packing a U-Haul for Sacramento.
