Phil Collins Vs. Steve Perry – Clash of the Titans
Oddly enough, two of the ’80s biggest rock superstars — Steve Perry and Phil Collins — both returned to the stage for the first time in years last week, mere days apart from each other. So this week’s Clash of the Titans asks: Who made the better comeback?
Genesis and solo star Collins turned up first, surprising attendees of a Miami middle school’s spring concert on May 20 by leading the youngsters through performances of ‘In the Air Tonight’ and ‘Land of Confusion.’ No word on whether this marks the end of his nearly three-year retirement, but we’re hoping that’s the case!
Then, on Sunday night (May 25) in St. Paul, Minnesota, former Journey singer Steve Perry ended a nearly two-decade long exile from live performing by joining alternative rockers the Eels in concert to sing ‘Open Arms’ and ‘Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’.’ Obviously this news has prompted wild speculation in the classic rock world. We’re eager to see what, if anything, Perry does next.
So which performance was better? To help you make an informed decision, we’ve included video footage from both of these surprising comebacks below. This Clash of the Titans will stay open until June 1, 2014 at 11:59PM ET. You can vote once an hour for your favorite.
