A few mailbox explosions have been reported in East Texas over the last few days, and police think there may be other incidents that have gone unreported.

Detectives think someone put some type of firework inside the mailboxes, and once the firework exploded the mailbox was severely damaged, and the ground caught fire.

At least two mailboxes exploded in Tyler over the weekend, and police think there may be other cases where people have noticed damaged mailboxes but have not reported the cases to police.

To report damage to a mailbox, call Lufkin police or Crimestoppers, at 936-639-TIPS.

Crime Stoppers of Lufkin also wants help this week identifying a car thief.  You can find out more about that case on the Crime Stoppers website.
