‘Prison Break’ Revival May Shoot After ‘Legends of Tomorrow’

Last year saw FOX’s Prison Break joining the great circle of TV revivals, though series leads Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell’s Legend-ary commitments seemed an understandable snag. Now, Purcell and Miller maintain that the revival is still “moving forward,” and may shoot in the spring after Legends of Tomorrow wraps.

TVLine spoke to Miller and Purcell after the Legends TCA press tour panel, the latter referencing that Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox were “negotiating the complexities” required to make both schedules work, while Miller offered a more optimistic take:

There are a lot of moving parts to that conversation, but we are hopeful that we’ll be able to shoot something this spring. Prison Break is taking its cue from Legends, which is the priority. So we’re aiming for spring.

Back when the 10-episode revival was first announced, FOX boss Dana Walden said of the details:

I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don’t think [executive producer Paul Scheuring] knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience.

Not only that, but fellow FOX head Gary Newman noted that the events of 2009's Prison Break: The Final Break would end up somewhat ignored, given that Michael Scofield (Miller) didn’t exactly end that story in a place to … you know, breathe, much less break out of anywhere in particular.

We’ll keep an eye out for further details, but will Legends prove too difficult for Prison Break to break out of?
