The day known as Record Store Day, when bands and artists release exclusive material on vinyl only to independent record stores around the country, will be on April 16th this year.

Co-founder Michael Kurtz revealed several things about the day to ABC News.  First up, Kurtz said they plan to "work with the New York City film fest to hopefully do a whole film festival on music around Record Store Day." Kurtz also plans to release a Record Store Day toy.  He said the toy "comes with its own little record that slides into its arms."  Like the records that are released on RSD, the toy will be limited and individually numbered.  Finally, Kurtz is hoping to top the live record store performances that have been done for RSD in the past by bands like METALLICA, WILCO and SMASHING PUMPKINS.
