U2 is planning to donate five million euros -- the equivalent of around $7.2 million -- through 2015 to schools in Ireland.

The money will help fund music education programs in Irish schools, according to Rolling Stone.   Like the US, schools in Ireland have faced budget cuts, but U2’s donation will help Irish schools by covering salaries for music teachers as well as securing the purchase of musical instruments and other equipment.  It is the band’s hope that the government will be able to resume funding the music programs they have created after 2015.

Okay, what US band is going to step up and help schools here.  Nice goin' U2!
