Next week you may be seeing college t-shirts everywhere in Texas.

Next Friday, May 4 is the second annual GenTX Day, when students across the state spend the day surrounded by people wearing college t-shirts. You'll see college t-shirts at the office and at stores and restaurants, and even teachers and staff at schools will trade the business casual clothes for big bold letters and mascot faces, all to support life after high school. All who wear the gear will be sending the message that a college education is a good investment. How does it work?

The goal, according to Generation Texas and the Deep East Texas P-16 Council is to get as many people as possible to show support for students going to college next Friday. Angelina County is encouraged to join the state in celebrating.

You don't have to be a graduate of the school - we won't tell. All colleges will be celebrated! Just pick a school and support education, and talk a little trash if you want. The point is to help high school students take pride in universities and colleges, and you get to dress down at work. How great is that.

I'll wear my Longhorn gear, and you can wear that Aggie attire of yours. Not to leave out the Baylor Bears,, Texas Tech Red Raiders, SFA Lumberjacks, and Angelina College Roadrunners... Oh, I probably left out somebody. That's why you'll have to sport the gear and show us.

It's a statewide event that we think will be a conversation starter at work and a fun way to spend a Friday. Go get the gear and wear it May 4!
