His name says it all, and when he's not on the field "belting" the seams off baseballs for the San Francisco Giants, Brandon Belt can be seen hanging around his roots right here in the Pineywoods.

The soon to be 25 year old Hudson-native, drafted in the fifth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, after his junior year at the University of Texas, still manages to make time for the local community when the opportunity presents itself, and that will happen this Thursday, January 31.

Meet "the baby giraffe" (an affectionate nickname given to him by KNBR sports announcer Duane Kuiper) at East Texas Professional Credit Union between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Don't forget to bring your baseball so Brandon can autograph it.

Belt was named to the Giants opening day roster last year, and already boasts a World Series ring.  His career stats to date:  .259 batting average, 16 home runs, 74 R.B.I.

East Texas Professional Credit Union is located at 406 College Drive in Lufkin.  Phone number is 936-634-2292.
