SFA Fights Hard, But Exits NIT Run

A valiant effort by the Lumberjacks in Stanford, California against the home team Cardinal (not Cardinals) on Tuesday night, fell short by one point (58-57) in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament.

A see-saw battle saw Taylor Smith score 18 while pulling down 7 boards, and Antonio Bostic had 15 points and 6 rebounds for the fifth seeded "Jacks" (27-5).  Desmond Haymon's missed shot near the charity stripe as time expired, sent the fourth seeded "Cardinal" (19-14) onward to defend their 2012 NIT title.
