Slipknot Singer Trashes ‘Petty,’ ‘Ridiculous’ Kiss Drama

The battle over who deserves to wear the Kiss makeup has gotten so big that now even bands who wear masks have gotten involved.

Singer Corey Taylor, frontman for Slipknot and Stone Sour and longtime Kiss fan, used a recent interview to weigh in on the ongoing controversy over whether former members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss should be allowed to perform with the band when it’s inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unsurprisingly, he thinks everyone involved should just let bygones be bygones.

“It’s like, can you guys just put aside your petty issues and realize that without one another you wouldn’t have been able to do this? Can you just set stuff aside and do one show for the fans as the original lineup again? And then you never have to see each other again!” urged Taylor, adding that remaining co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley “wouldn’t be where they are” without Frehley and Criss. “That’s just me layin’ it straight,” he shrugged. “I might not ever get a kind word from anybody in that band anymore. But I think it’s petty and I think it’s ridiculous! Figure it out! Show respect, because sometimes it’s not about you, it’s about the fans.”

All that said, Taylor admitted that he understands the way personality conflicts can destroy a band. “It’s just one of those things, that’s how far off the reservation sometimes we get,” he nodded. “You gotta remember, we’re musicians…we’re just crazy people who can’t get along sometimes. I’ve definitely come to the table with my knife in my pocket a couple of times, you know how it is. It’s part of being human. Now, add fame and money and all that rock and roll craziness to it. We’re lucky we don’t eat each other in this industry!”

Taylor, who’s readying a return to the studio with Slipknot, also recently made time for an appearance on the upcoming Ronnie James Dio tribute album, ‘This Is Your Life,’ contributing a cover of ‘Rainbow in the Dark’ that you can hear right here.
