The alligator that drowned a man over the weekend has been found dead from a gunshot.  But how do they know this is gator responsible?

We posted the story on Monday about the 11-foot alligator that pulled a 28-year old man under water while he was swimming in Orange County in Southeast Texas.  When the man's body was found about four hours later he was missing an arm from the elbow down, and had puncture wounds to the chest, and had died from drowning.

Game wardens know the alligator found dead a day later is the one responsible for the drowning because he still "had the man's body parts."  We don't know exactly what that means, but it may be safe to assume it was the arm. They're sending whatever it was back to Missouri so the man's body can be pieced back together before the burial.

Now the plot thickens.  Who shot the gator?  Police don't know yet, but they do say it's a Class C misdemeanor with a fine up to $500 to shoot and kill an alligator.  So far there are no suspects.
