Now that many kids are out of school for the summer, who's cookin'?

The federal government puts money toward summer lunch programs across the country, and the Lufkin program just got going this week.

That means Monday through Friday, several different locations are serving breakfast and lunch to kids 18-years-old and younger.

Herty Primary and Dunbar Primary in Lufkin started serving breakfast and lunch Monday.  It's a convenient way to fee the kids during weeks that they don't have camps and other summer obligations, and it doesn't cost a thing.

First Christian Church just started serving meals Tuesday, and today there will be breakfast and lunch available at Lufkin High School.

Each location has the specifics on the times that meals are served and other instructions.  There's no program for parents to apply for with the Summer Lunch Program, and you can click HERE for more.
