The latest animal that was featured by NPD and looking for a forever home is Martha. She's a three-month-old labrador and pit mix.

Duchess is a one-year-old Calico female. Apparently, she's a bit camera shy, but she's also playful, as you can see with her climbing all over Sergeant Ayres.

Dylan is about a year and a half old, and according to the Humane Society, he's a lab and pit terrier mix.

Quilty is not one to be confined. He repeatedly escapes his enclosure at the shelter and even brings some friends along for the adventure.

Pet ownership has all sorts of benefits, besides just the warm fuzzy feelings we get when we're snuggled up on the couch with our sweet loyal friends. Pet owners tend to be happier, exercise more, and earn more money. Wanna adopt right now?

A few days ago, Stacey Faulkner tweeted a photograph of a dog potentially being mishandled by workers at a Lufkin Animal Shelter. That caught the attention of not only her own Twitter Followers, but also the attention of singer Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20. The firestorm led to an investigation into the animal's treatment at Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter.
